Arch truss dry dock weather protection facility.
For dry dock boat building facilities, vessel repair, maintenance or storage facilities, Taurus Fabric Build can supply you with the right solution. Taurus Fabric Build fabric structures are versatile and durable enough to withstand a corrosive marine dry dock environment.
Fabric to the ground type structures may be used as a static building fixed to the ground or can be mounted on wheels and rails so as the fabric structure can be slid over the vessel. This enables easy access for cranes if engines or superstructures need to be removed. It is more economical to move a smaller lightweight fabric structure, than to have a structure wide and high enough to accommodate lifting gear or cranes.
Dual or triple rails can be used allowing the slightly smaller structure to slide under the next. This reduces the amount of room needed in the dry dock area for storing the unused fabric structure. It also allows you to open up a section over the centre of the vessel for crane access. You can access the area needed while keeping the rest of the vessel covered.
Stacking containers increases structure height
If you require a fixed structure it can be mounted on double or triple stacked shipping containers. If triple stacked shipping containers are used substantial footings will be required. The use of external braces from the top of the containers to the ground will reduce footing requirements substantially. Alternately 20′ containers placed at right angle to the structure intermittently along the structure, filled with ballast and braced to the top containers may be an option. These containers can form the sides of external fabric structures for smaller workshops, painting rooms or engineers facilities.
The individual containers can be used for offices, bunded oil rooms, workshops, ablution blocks, rest areas or for any other purpose required.
An alternate option for one-off projects is to use scaffolding walls covered with shade cloth and crane roof sections on rails that attach to the scaffolding. Flaps can be use to join the sections together so they are waterproof.
